China Today: A Dinner with Yale-China's David Youtz

China Today: A Dinner with Yale-China's David Youtz
Date:
Sat, 10/29/2016 - 6:00pm

David YoutzDavid Youtz, executive director of the Yale-China Association, will be the guest lecturer at a special Yale Club of Southwestern Virginia dinner reception hosted in his honor in Roanoke on October 29, 2016. Following dinner David will speak to us on “China Today: The View from the Street,” after which he will be delighted to take our questions.

David, an engaging speaker who has an infectious enthusiasm about China, has over 25 years’ experience in Asian affairs, primarily in not-for profit organizations. Prior to coming to Yale last year, he was the senior consultant at the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, and earlier in his career he was Yale-China’s Field Staff Director in Hong Kong, where he worked with numerous recent Yale grads serving as ELIs (English Language Instructors) at various schools all over China.

The Yale-China Association itself was founded by Yale faculty and alumni in 1901 with the mission of contributing to the development of education in China, and knowledge about China in the United States, and to further understanding and cultural exchange between Chinese and American people. Certainly in today’s rapidly changing times, where China and the U.S. are both trading partners and political competitors dominating so much of the global economy, David will have enough material for a dozen after-dinner talks. We will look forward greatly to hearing his insights and experiences.

All Yale alumni, parents, students, friends and their guests are warmly welcome. Come and chat with Yale-China’s dynamic new leader, meet new friends, catch up with old ones, and hear about what’s really going on in China today!
