Registration fee

The registration fee for the entire weekend, including meals, is $200 per person. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is underwriting a substantial portion of the cost in order to make the weekend affordable for as many alumni as possible.

Special fee for graduate students

For current graduate students at Yale or any other institution, the registration fee is $20.

Hotels

We have reserved blocks of rooms at The Colony Inn, 1157 Chapel Street, and the Courtyard by Marriott at Yale, 30 Whalley Avenue, each within 2 blocks of Old Campus. You may reserve a room by calling the hotel directly. Please mention “Yale Slavic Conference” to get the discounted rate of $89 single/$99 double at The Colony (203-776-1234); or $129, single or double, at the Courtyard by Marriott (203-777-6221). Parking is $8/day at both hotels. The rooms will be held for us until October 5.

Air Travel

You may want to consider flying to Hartford (Bradley Airport) or Providence (T. F. Green). U. S. Airways serves Tweed-New Haven airport from Philadelphia, and Delta Airlines serves Tweed-New Haven via Cincinnati. New York area options include La Guardia, JFK and Newark airports.
Connecticut Limousine (www.ctlimo.com; 1-800-472-5466) ground transportation serves Hartford, Newark, La Guardia and JFK airports, but not Providence. Driving time from from Hartford to New Haven is one hour; from Providence to New Haven is approximately 2 hours; and from Newark to New Haven can be from 2 to 3+ hours, depending on traffic. There is also an Amtrak train connection between the Newark Airport and New Haven.

Trains

Amtrak and Metro North both stop at the New Haven train station.

Special Tours on Friday afternoon, November 5

Special one-hour tours of interest to alumni will be planned for Friday afternoon, November 5, beginning at approximately 1:15 pm. Tours will include the new high-tech Center for Language Study, the renowned Slavic collections in Sterling Memorial Library and the Beinecke Rare Book& Manuscripts Library, and the Yale Collection of Musical Instruments.

Display of Books by Alumni at the Yale Bookstore

If you have a book in print, please let us know right away. The Yale Bookstore at 77 Broadway in New Haven will order books for a display of work by Yale alumni in in Slavic Languages & Literatures, Russian & East European Studies and related fields. Books will be on exhibit and for sale for several weeks, beginning November 3, 2004. Click here for order form.

Biographical Notes from Alumni

Please write a paragraph about your current work, activities and interests, whether in academics or another field. We will produce a booklet to be distributed to alumni at the conference/reunion, and mailed to those who cannot attend. We would like to include notes from as many alumni as possible, and encourage you to respond. The revised deadline for submissions is September 27. Click here to submit biography.

Approximately 400 Graduate School alumni in Slavic Languages & Literatures, Russian & East European Studies and related fields have been invited to the conference/reunion. You should have been mailed a copy of the list.
