Family Event--Sunday, February 20, 2011

Are you & your kids feeling cooped up and ready for a vacation to a tropical jungle?
Please join us for our next Yale Club of Chicago family event at the Garfield Park Conservatory
Sunday, Feb 20, 10AM-noon

Never been to the Garfield Park Conservatory?
You are in for a treat! A hidden gem right here in Chicago, the conservatory is one of the largest gardens under glass in the nation, with a fascinating 100-year history. It offers acres of plants including banana and papaya trees, winding paths to explore, waterfalls, fish ponds, warm moist tropical air (peel off those sweaters!), and a children's garden with a big slide, dig pit, and area for crawlers.

What will we do?
Join us in Horticulture Hall for some hot coffee & donuts (10-10:45)
At 10:45, head to the Children's Garden to help water the plants and explore the dig pit full of natural treasures

How do I get there?
Located at 300 N. Central Park Ave, Chicago - see http://www.garfieldconservatory.org/
Just a 10 minute drive from the Loop (via 290) with free parking.
Or take the Green Line directly to it's doorstep (it has an elevator)

What does the event cost?
Suggested donation of $5/family, or $2/family for Yale Club Members. Your contribution supports the conservatory's children's programming and our coffee/donuts
(Just bring a few bucks to give to Stephanie at the event)

What age kids will enjoy the event?
All ages! There is something for everyone at the conservatory. Early walkers like the crawling area, younger kids love the dig pit, older kids enjoy watering plants and the scavenger hunt full of natural treasures, shutterflies of all ages love taking pictures (a great spot for a family photo).

What should I bring/wear?
It's wet - so if your kids cant resist walking through puddles, we suggest boots! Also if you are still using a stroller, you might find it helpful for stashing your coat and stuff.

How do I RSVP?
To Stephanie Rath at stephanie_rath@yahoo.com
Please do RSVP as we need to let the conservatory know how many of us to expect!
