Chautauqua Mini Reunion
July 13 - 16, 2011

February 2011

Dear Yale Classmate,

The 2011 Chautauqua Mini-reunion is now just five months away.  You are receiving this letter because you have already indicated your interest in attending the Chautauqua Mini Reunion.  Space is limited, so please do not hesitate to return the enclosed registration form.

At this point we have much more detail about the program during Week 3 with the lecture theme: American Intelligence: Technology, Espionage, Alliances. The week is presented in conjunction with the Spy Museum of Washington, DC. The Thursday morning platform speaker is David Ignatius columnist and author of the book, Body of Lies; the Friday morning speaker is R. James Woolsey former director of the CIA. Our classmate Steve Wittenberg will present to us at lunch his studies of a well-known Yale professor who was a major spy during WWII. His name will be revealed during the talk.

Friday evening will again be a dinner cruise on the Summer Wind with the same terrific musicians led by Skip Roberts.

Thursday evening the renowned Russian pianist, Alexander Gavylyuk will join the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. The theater is offering Chekhov’s “Three Sisters” available at several times. Bring your golf clubs and/or tennis racquet and Jack and Len will again arrange golf and tennis.

For those who might be interested in extending your time at Chautauqua, Chautauqua now offers concierge service; call Myra Peterson 716-357-6231. (Just to peak your interest – the Wednesday platform speaker is Stella Rimington former head of the British Security Service, MI5)

Enclosed is registration material. Essential in order to preserve our hotel rooms that your reservation be made promptly.....Week 3 is a very popular week.

If you want to learn more about the week or sign-up for theater tickets visit www.ciwb.org. If you have any questions, please call Len at (716) 830-6165 or Jack at (440)749-3329. Additional information about travel, parking, etc. will be sent when we get closer to the mini. If flying, the easiest airport is Buffalo International about 1 hour 15 minutes easy drive from there. If needed, motorized scooters can be rented.

Once again, Barbara Burt of the AYA will handle the reservations and all funds.  Barbara can be reached via email at barbara.burt@yale.edu or (203)432-8016.

Looking forward to another great mini-reunion.

Len and Jack
