2:00 pm:  Special Tour of The New York Historical Society (170 Central Park West at 77th Street)
Each year Gil Kinney, our resident art authority, has led us to a different one of the city’s museum gems. The Historical Society has been closed for three years for a total renovation. According to Gil, the Museum has just opened and the result is quite dramatic and exciting.

The Historical Society now hosts among other features, the largest movie screen in NYC, now showing a moving film on the story of NYC. Also works by Audubon and Tiffany and an extensive use of modern technology for consumer interaction with the exhibits. Louise Mirrer, the Museum Director, will be on hand to personally greet us.  Tickets are $12 each. Gil suggests that if you can, come early for lunch in their great new cafeteria. This event has been growing attendance each year, and now well over 50 of us will attend.

6:00 pm:  Annual Class Dinner and Cocktails
Peter Van Doren will again head up our annual class dinner at the Yale Club, located at Vanderbilt Avenue and 44th Street. This dinner is so hot it has become one of Zagat’s top choices. Each year we have been attracting over 100 classmates, wives, and friends to the Yale Club for quality food and quality time. Cocktails will begin at 6 and dinner about 7:15. Carlos Romero Barcelo has agreed to be our guest speaker. One of the leading political leaders in our class, Carlos has been Mayor of San Juan, Governor of Puerto Rico, and represented Puerto Rico in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The cost of dinner will be $85 a person (wine included). Drinks beforehand are extra.  With Peter personally selecting the wine, you can understand why New York’s wine critics beg to be included in this affair.

Saturday, February 4th

10:00 am:  Group Brunch on the Yale Club Roof (inside)
This has become an annual event with classmates joining us who have not stayed at the Club.  The Club clears half the restaurant for us and we have had a group of 50 of us every year. A great way to kick off the day. No reservations necessary.

2:00 pm:  Our Traditional Theater Matinee Party
Bonnie & Clyde:  (Schoenfeld Theater 236 W. 46th St.)

We have been very lucky in successfully picking the hits for 14 years, including “Anything Goes,” “Wicked,” “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” “Billy Elliot,” and last year “La Cage Aux Folles”.  This year we found one gem of an original new musical, “Bonnie & Clyde”. It opened in San Diego to very good reviews and delegates from that area who were at the AYA and Alumni Fund November Assemblies provided glowing reports. Theater groups who saw it in previews this November came back with enthusiastic reports:  “A smartly crafted story of doomed young outlaws told with considerable wit and heart, bolstered by inventive visual strength, strong performances, and a score that bewitches in fits and starts.” Our group rate is $80 per ticket. When the show has its official opening and reviews are available, we’ll email the reports.

5:30 pm:  Post-Theater Reception
This has become a happy pre-dinner gathering for well over 50 of us, who return to The Yale Club Tap Room for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

Sunday, February 5th

A day to enjoy the many attractions of New York, play in traffic, and catch one more great meal. As an alternative, we are trying to arrange a class group event. More details to follow.

Registration
For your convenience we encourage you to register and make all event payments online, Click Here. The deadline to register either online or by the enclosed paper registration form for the New York Historical Society tour, the Class Dinner, “Bonnie & Clyde” as well as the post theater reception at the Yale Club is January 7, 2012.

Spring Mini Reunion

San Francisco, Tuesday, April 24th – Sunday, April 29th
We now get a gold medal as a well-travelled group, with Washington, D.C., San Juan, Santa Fe, Cannes, Charleston, Chicago, and Philadelphia.  In a 2007 poll we took, San Francisco emerged as the favored destination by far. Thanks to John Sanford and Norm Rosenblatt the class now has that opportunity. They have assembled a strong committee and have a very educational and entertaining agenda lined up.  As evidence that this mini reunion will be the best attended by far, to date 90 people have indicated they will attend, including 48 classmates.  The registration mailing will go out mid-December.
