Pre-Forum Volunteer Opportunities at GLWD on Friday, 9/23

God's Love We Deliver, where we will kick off the forum with Friday's reception, relies heavily on volunteers to prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to those who, because of illness, cannot do so for themselves. Whether or not you can attend the forum, please help us fill the volunteer slots below by contacting Kate Suhr, Manager of Volunteer Services (; 212-294-8160), by Wednesday, 9/21. Bring your friends!

All volunteer shifts will begin at the Soho location: 166 Avenue of the Americas (at Spring Street), New York, NY 10013.

Descriptions of each volunteer shift on Friday, 9/23:

Kitchen Prep: With 20,000 meals delivered each week, the kitchen staff relies on volunteers to help prepare this massive quantity of food. Tasks may include chopping carrots, wrapping rolls, peeling potatoes or making meatballs. Depending on the work needed to finish the reception meals, it is quite possible that these volunteers will be preparing some of the food for the evening.

Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Number of volunteers needed: 8-12 volunteers

Walking Deliveries: Walking deliveries are a great opportunity to meet our clients directly. We have many Neighborhood Meal Distribution Centers throughout New York City where meals are dropped off in the morning. Volunteers pick up meals and deliver them on foot in the surrounding neighborhood. You’ll receive a quick training at our Soho location before heading out.

Time: 10:30 am – 1:30 pm

Number of volunteers needed: 15 volunteers

Meal Kitting: As the volume of our frozen meal program continues to increase, we have recently added afternoon "kitting" shifts. Volunteers pre-package the components of our clients' meals and assemble our children's meal kits.

Time: usually 1:30-3:00 pm

Number of volunteers needed: 5 volunteers
