1988 - 30th Reunion (May 24-27, 2018)

                     Yale Class of 1988 - 30th Reunion - May 24 -27, 2018

Hi fellow ‘88ers and happy spring!

We are less than one month away from our 30th reunion, and if you haven’t already registered, it’s time!!!  Since we’re in the home stretch, we really need to know who is coming, so we can be sure to order the proper amounts of food and SWAG!  Click here to see who has already signed up, and here to complete your registration. The deadline for registering online is May 22.  After that date, you are welcome to come as a “walk in” and pay when you check in.

We have finalized our class panels, selected the menus for class lunches and dinners, and picked out the SWAG you’ll be enjoying for the next five years and beyond!

The most up-to-date schedule for the reunion weekend is available here.

Highlights of this year’s panels include:

An update on some amazing scientific and medical breakthroughs from a group of our Science Hill classmates; a multidisciplinary discussion about politics and civility in this American moment; and a sharing of personal stories about dealing with life’s curveballs as we head into our mid-50s.

We are still seeking submissions from classmates with “curveball” stories to tell, and lessons learned. Your contribution can be anonymous or if you’re open to publicly sharing, that’s fine too!  The session will feature several classmates telling their stories as well as a group of volunteers who will read from anonymous submissions. Here’s the link to add your story to the mix: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8Y8Curveball.

There will also be a screening room where we will show recent films produced or directed by members of the class, along with a display of works by classmate artists and authors.  To participate in the display, please contact Carter Brooks, carterbrooks@gmail.com.

As in past reunions, there will be plenty of time to attend morning lectures with some of Yale’s esteemed faculty, go for an invigorating morning run, explore the campus and see the new colleges, attend a choral concert of Yale’s singing groups from across all of the classes sharing our reunion weekend, and hear an update from President Peter Salovey.

To honor those that we’ve lost, the class memorial book will be on display and available for you to read and contribute your thoughts and memories.

If all of that isn’t enough to motivate you to register, how about dancing to the music of class DJ’s Kevin Kiernan and Charlie Joyner?  They’ll be setting the mood for us under the Branford tent, and kicking off the Saturday evening dance party with songs from our youth.  Oh for the days of Prince, Bowie, Tears for Fears, B-52s, Depeche Mode and the Eurythmics.  If that’s not your speed, don’t worry.  There will be music from across the decades, and even a few current tunes to get you to shake that booty.

As a final plea, we are trending slightly below our usual record attendance numbers and it’s up to you to push us over the top!  Our steep competition comes from the class of 1985, and we’re not going to let them keep the record.  So click here to register now!

Boola Boola!!

Your Reunion Planning Committee,

Ursula Burton, Julie Heller, Paul Mange Johansen, Sanford Stark and Colin Weil
