CLASS OF 1957 ALERT
It is time to register for our 60th reunion gathering on May 25-28, 2017 (Memorial Day weekend).
In 1957, men were old after 80. I don’t think of myself as old now. I hope you will agree that we are in late middle age. Here is an opportunity for us to reaffirm our longevity and relive our youth.
I have written before about the multiple reasons for attending this 60th reunion of the Yale Class of 1957. Here are more reasons and updated details.
Yale 1957 will host a panel celebrating the 10th year of the Music in the Schools Initiative. This program funded through your generosity has made a profound difference in the lives of so many of New Haven’s inner city students. Come hear about the program and then enjoy a special musical program put on by these awesome students at the beautiful renovated Sprague Hall.
Many of us are interested in undergraduate life in 2017 and how it compares with our lives in the mid 1950’s. We will have an opportunity to hear from current undergraduates about their lives in a panel moderated by the dynamic Yale History Professor, Jay Gitlin '71, '74 MMus, '02 PhD.
For his third 1957 reunion, the renowned David Swensen '80 PhD will give us his thoughts on the economy and what the future might portend.
We are working on several other opportunities but we plan to leave ample time for fellowship and relaxation.
The AYA will present a panoply of talks by star Yale faculty on a variety of topics which will stimulate your synaptic connections. President Peter Salovey will report on the state of the university. Yale singers will entertain at a concert with a variety of group both young and not so young. There will be a presentation on Yale’s two new residential colleges.
We have a splendid array of food choices sure to satisfy the most discriminating tastes.
Many of you will be receiving calls from other classmates encouraging you to attend. Heed their calls and mine. Class widows are cordially invited to attend the reunion at no cost for either fees or on-campus housing.
AND I REMIND YOU THAT ALL THIS COMES AT THE BARGAIN PRICE OF $19.57, FOR YOU AND FOR YOUR 1st GUEST. (You will be asked to pay for your on-campus housing, and a full reunion fee of $415 for any additional guests.)
Financial aid for on-campus housing (classmates and 1st guests only) is available through the AYA – totally private. Please contact Jennifer Julier at 203-436-8014 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our 60th Reunion will occur but once.
