Assembly
LVIII: Three Hundred Years of Creativity and Discovery
Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April
22, 2001
Executive Summary
This year’s Spring Assembly for
the AYA was special in that a shortened program preceded a full
weekend of special Tercentennial programs and celebrations for a
large group of alumni who occupy volunteer leadership positions
in many different organizations. Of the 1,600 prominent alumni leaders
and guests who attended the Alumni Leadership Convocation, about
350 were AYA delegates with their guests.
Because each person’s itinerary was individually
developed, no executive summary could possibly capture the unique
experience of this weekend. So below we have only summarized the
AYA Assembly session. We expect that all delegates, however, will
want to share their experiences regarding the rest of the weekend
with their fellow alumni. For those who did not keep their program
booklet describing in full the many sessions, receptions and concerts,
you may refresh your memory of the sessions, receptions and concerts
you attended by reviewing the document online at www.yale.edu/yale300/aprilweekend/April_Program.pdf.
Special Note: Online Video Streaming of
Convocation Sessions Now Available! AYA delegates should also not
fail to mention in their reports that a broad selection of the panels,
programs and presentations were videotaped and have been placed
online at www.yale.edu/yale300/aprilweekendvideos/.
Any individual who would like to see former President Bush, President
Rick Levin, author Tom Wolfe, musician Wille Ruff or a large number
of the other presenters need only browse their way to the website!
