Registration and Lunch
Delegates and guests may register for Assembly beginning at
8:30 am at the Rose Alumni House at 232 York Street. New Delegates
will attend the New Delegate Orientation Luncheon to be held
from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm in the Presidents' Room in Woolsey Hall.
All others who register for lunch will receive tickets to eat in
the University Dining Hall of their choice from 11:30 am to 1 pm.
Opening Session
2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Assembly Chair Marc Lockhart '84 will introduce Assembly
LXI. Then, in the opening plenary, Yale College Dean Richard
Brodhead '68, '72 PhD will provide an overview of the process
that has been set in motion to review the undergraduate curriculum.
Dean Brodhead will discuss his committee's charge, outline its process,
report on its primary themes as they have emerged so far, and indicate
its timetable for producing a final report.
Following the speakers, a panel of faculty, students and recent
graduates who are members of the review committee will take the
stage to respond to Dean Brodhead's remarks and to offer their own
reflections on the review.
Reception, Dinner and Keynote Speech
6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Following the opening session, delegates will have some free time
before moving to University Commons at 6:00 for a reception and
dinner. After dinner, Professor Donald Brown, the Philip
R. Allen Professor of Economics and Director of Graduate Studies
in Economics, will make a keynote presentation, reflecting on the
nature of the undergraduate curriculum from a faculty point of view.
Reception at Rose Alumni House
9:00 p.m.
After dinner, share in the afterglow with finger desserts and coffee
at the Rose Alumni House.

Board of Governors Election Information Session
8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Third year delegates interested in learning more about the AYA Board
of Governors and the election process are invited to this meeting
with members of the Board and AYA staff. Continental breakfast will
be provided.
Continental Breakfast
7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Those who register for continental breakfast will receive tickets
for Davenport College.
An Alumni Exercise in Course Selection and Principles
of Choice
9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
This exercise will begin with a short plenary session for instructions.
Delegates will then break into groups of twenty to meet with the
Associate Deans and Residential College Deans who advise current
undergraduates on course selection. In addition to completing the
exercise in course selection that was assigned prior to the Assembly,
delegates will share their course selections with one another and
discuss the principles on which they constructed their "ideal
curriculums."
Information Session Luncheon
12 noon to 1:30 pm
Delegates will be assigned to lunches at sites around campus where
University administrators will host and provide an informal opportunity
to learn about various aspects of the University's operation.
Alumni Town Meeting on the Yale College Curriculum
2:00 p.m. to 3:30 pm
Using the information provided in the opening plenary, reflecting
on Professor Brown's keynote, and incorporating the exercise on
course selection and principles, delegates will be asked to participate
with Dean Brodhead and members of his committee in an open forum
on the undergraduate curriculum. The committee has been conducting
moderated open forums with the current campus community and has
found them to be a valuable way to solicit feedback and advice on
their work. Dean Brodhead will offer a closing summary of his thoughts
on the Assembly and Assembly Chair Marc Lockhart will share his
closing reflections.
Club Committee Meeting
4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
All delegates should attend the Club Committee session which
will include a discussion of the ways in which the AYA can help
Yale Clubs and Associations. Highly successful club programs and
events will be discussed. Club, Class, Graduate School, Professional
School, and At-Large Delegates should all enjoy and benefit from
the session, which will include an opportunity for comments and
questions, as well as breakout sessions that will examine club issues
based on the size and activity level of your home club.
Dinner in Residential Colleges
6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Participants will be assigned a residential college where they will
have dinner in the dining hall.
Friday Evening Performances
8:00 p.m.
For those who would like to take in a play or concert in New Haven
on Friday evening, following is a list of Yale performances and
the information needed to acquire tickets for each event:
The Carnegie Hall Jazz Band; Woolsey Hall
Join members of the Yale and New Haven communities for a benefit
concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Duke Ellington Fellowship
at Yale. This Fellowship brings visiting musicians to children in
the New Haven public schools for performances and workshops. Tickets
are $15 and $10. Call 203-432-4158. (You must call the box office
directly to reserve these tickets.)
Breath, Boom
The Yale Repertory Theatre; University Theater
This powerful new play follows the fortunes of a New York City girl-gang
leader over fourteen years. The show will be in previews; more info

Report from the Board of Governors
8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
Delegates will convene for a short report from the AYA Board of
Governors.
Presidential University Update
8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Yale President Richard C. Levin '74 PhD will provide an update
on University issues of interest to alumni leaders. Continental
breakfast will be provided.
Yale College Classes Meeting
9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
At the Yale College Classes meeting, class officers as well
as delegates with Yale College degrees will hear about new online
initiatives, followed by a choice of several "how-to"
workshops on class programs and events.
Graduate and Professional School Alumni Meeting
9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
This is an opportunity for delegates to learn more about and
raise issues concerning volunteer activities, programming and communications
throughout the year.
At the Professional Schools meeting, delegates will have an opportunity
to review and discuss ways in which the AYA can better partner with
your school to support your alumni relations efforts.
At this time, the Graduate School Alumni Association Executive Committee
will hold its annual Fall meeting.
Lunch at Coxe Cage
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
All delegates are invited to the AYA's traditional fall indoor tailgate
to celebrate the many athletic pursuits of Yale's students. After
the tailgate, delegates may attend the Yale vs. Penn football game.
Please indicate the number of football tickets you will need
when you register.
Later that afternoon, your football ticket stub will get you into
the Yale vs. Penn women's soccer game at 4 pm, as well as the men's
soccer game against Penn at 7 pm. Also at 7 pm, the Yale Hockey
team will play in an exhibition game against Western Ontario. Tickets
for the hockey game are $7 for standing tickets purchased at the
door, or $10 for reserved-seat tickets which can be ordered in advance
by calling the Yale Athletics Ticket Office at 203-432-1402.
