Report from the Board of Governors

AYA Board of Governors Chair, Philip Boyle '71, provided an update on the AYA's overall activity, including the following items:

  • New website: AYA successfully launched the new Online Alumni Directory with over 20,000 alumni registered so far. The AYA won an award from the Harris Directory for the most registrations in the first year of launch. An online career mentoring program should be in place by the end of next semester.

  • The distance learning program has changed its name to AllLearn. Although the program is searching for a new CEO, it continues to bring almost 50 online courses to the alumni of the jointly sponsoring institutions: Yale, Stanford and Oxford.

  • The educational travel programs that send Yale alumni abroad with Yale faculty are experiencing a return to traditional numbers after the disruption of last September.

  • The AYA has strengthened ties with the graduate school. Martin Cobern '74 Ph.D., who serves as Vice-Chair of the Graduate School Alumni Association has joined the AYA board. The GSAA has also revised their constitution so that all AYA Graduate School delegates will be part of the GSAA executive committee.
