Executive Summary
Special Interest Group Breakout

Moderators: Jeff Brenzel '75, Executive Director of the AYA and Reid Davis '86 MPH, Chair of the Special Interest Alumni Groups Committee

The following are topics that the delegates attending the brainstorming session felt merited consideration by the Special Interest Alumni Groups Committee:

  • Alumni with interests who have no groups 
  • Getting alumni together around science and engineering issues 
  • Lifelong learning in connection with specific intellectual interests 
  • International interests, particularly with clubs that don't have a critical mass of alumni 
  • Identity groups on campus connecting with alumni 
  • Setting up an alumni knowledge/talent bank 
  • Senior societies and fraternities 
  • Connecting interest groups with opportunities abroad 
  • Temporary interest groups around particular topics with faculty 
  • Finding out what exactly the special interest groups want 
  • Helping groups without mailing lists or activities get organized
