Assembly LVII
: The Performing Arts at Yale
Executive Summary Saturday Morning
Yale College Classes Meeting
Jenny Edwards '89, Associate
Director for Yale College Classes, gave a presentation on the recent
renewal and reinvention of Yale College reunions. Yale College spring
reunions are by far the largest single event of the AYA, with a
large percentage of every class attending a reunion over the course
of its life after Yale. Following Jeff Brenzel's arrival in 1998,
the AYA performed a ground-up review of reunions from the early
planning stages through evaluations & follow-up. With two years
of "new and improved" reunions completed, feedback from
alumni and campus partners has been very positive, and the AYA is
fully committed to ongoing improvement in reunions as a whole.
The presentation covered the following
topics:
Yale reunion facts and figures
Challenges of reunion programming
Goals for reunions 1999 and
2000
Steps taken in 1999 and 2000
The "new and improved"
AYA reunion program
Reunion 1999 and 2000 results
Reunions 2000: Lessons learned
Reunions 2001 Objectives
A lively period of question and
answer as well as further suggestions followed.
Following the close of the sessions
devoted to the Assembly, many delegates had the chance to participate
in an indoor tailgate before watching Yale football team defeat
Columbia by a score of 41-0.
