Assembly LXIX: Spiritual and Religious Engagement at Yale and in the WorldNovember 19 - 21 2009
Many diverse traditions come together at Yale and this is especially true in the realm of religions and spirituality. With a Divinity School that continues to rise in prominence and a distinguished department of Religious Studies, as well as thriving student religious groups and a University Chaplain who reaches out across many faith traditions, Yale provides both formal and informal avenues for spiritual discovery and growth. How do these various religious communities support spiritual growth at Yale? What is the role of an institution like Yale in enriching scholarly discourse and encouraging public conversation on the place of spirituality in public life, both nationally and internationally? What role do religion and spirituality play in the way we as individuals operate in the world? How do our personal spiritual beliefs impact other aspects of our lives? Join us for the Assembly as we examine
the ways faith functions at Yale and in contemporary societies, and how it might be brought to bear on important issues of the day.
