About the AYA

Rose Alumni House

The Association of Yale Alumni provides a warm welcome to New Haven at Rose Alumni House. The House is named for Frederick P. Rose '44, the AYA's first Chair and a generous supporter of alumni activities at Yale. Its small forecourt, leaded glass windows and vaulted ceilings, share the classic architectural lines prevalent throughout the Yale campus. Rose Alumni House is open regularly on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., as well as during many special alumni weekends.

An interior refurbishing of Rose Alumni House in the summer of 1982 and further renovations in 1986, 1994 and 1998 made this elegant structure into a comfortable meeting place for all alumni.

Since the offices of the AYA staff are located in the House, this group is immediately available to alumni visiting New Haven. Beyond the foyer and reception area, shallow stone steps lead into the Great Hall, where several seating areas and a library offer a handsome place to meet, read, make telephone calls, or have a cup of coffee. On the lower level, immediately below the Great Hall, is the dining room which is used for special alumni functions.

Rose Alumni House serves many purposes. It is always open to returning alumni; it welcomes students, faculty and administration groups; the Board of Governors of the AYA meets here, as does the Corporation Committee on Development and Alumni Affairs. Classes and G & P Associations hold luncheons, receptions, dinners and informal gatherings in the Great Hall and in the dining room.
